BBC’s iPlayer had a great end to the year in 2008, display record viewing figures for it’s online TV avail in the UK.
December showed a mammoth 41 million views of BBC content using the classic live internet TV service, showing it’s best month ever since launch in December 2007.Programming included Wallace and Gromit’s new show ‘A thing? of Loaf and Death’ which had 8 million views over the week between Christmas and new year.


BBC spokesman, Erik Huggers said:- This confirms that 2008 was the year of the BBC iPlayer. The service evolved dramatically throughout its first 12 months  we’ve just introduced downloading for Mac and Linux users, and a special version of BBC iPlayer for CBBC and the innovation will continue in 2009.

The Company said in an announcement:- ‘SlingPlayer Mobile gives consumers their entire home TV experience, including local anaesthetic channels, local sports teams, video on demand, pay per view, etc. Any program that you can watch on your sofa back home, you can now watch via your iPhone using a standard network connection.
